O2 Centre, Finchley Road - Landsec

Key facts

  • The O2 centre is a c. 400k sq/ft shopping centre on the Finchley Road in the London Borough of Camden
  • The centre sits at the Finchley Road end of a 14 acre development site also incorporating Homebase, VW car showrooms and a Builders Yard
  • Planning permission was granted in March 2023 for a new mixed use neighbourhood following 4 years of consultation with the local community, Camden Council, TfL and other local stakeholders.


              The approved scheme will deliver;-

  • 1,800 new homes, 35% of which will be affordable, 150k sq/ft of new retail, leisure and work space.
  • New green spaces including a east/west pedestrian link, 2 new public parks, and new town square - all designed in conjunction with local young people.
  • Phased development enabling retention and repurposing  of the shopping centre with overall construction expected to last 10-15 years.





Role

Mike built and led the team that was responsible for delivering the part detailed part outline masterplan for this underutilised site that sits between Finchley Road and West Hampstead. 


In the most challenging planning environment London has ever seen, the Landsec team carefully navigated and successfully delivered the largest planning permission in Camden since Kings Cross.
